Transformational coaching is a tool that we have been using for many years at House of Holistic Performance. This tool has been evolving and continues to evolve to fit the changing world our clients live in.
Our personal transformation journey at House of Holistic Performance started with the transformation of ourselves, the discovery of new possibilities, new tools that we encountered on our own learning journey and that slowly became a piece of the puzzle for our transformational coaching journey.
We are aware of the narratives our clients have that block their progression and keep them from reaching their true potential. Transformational coaching is there not only to listen, but to bring awareness of that voice in their heads and help them to flip it over so that they move one step further in their personal transformation, focusing on their own mindset.
Note: The names in client stories used as examples of growth have been changed.

What is Transformational Coaching?
Transformational coaching is different to traditional coaching because it focuses on personal growth, self-awareness and the deep internal changes that we hear or feel from our clients. The traditional coaching world is focused more on performance, goal setting and problem-solving.
The transformational coaching style is focused on being more than doing. It is a holistic approach that focuses on the present moment and how the internal world of a client is at that moment. Traditional coaching methods are more structured and linear, and focus more on the doing part of it.
Transformational coaching helps to shift mindset, beliefs and thought patterns to transform the experience that the client has, helping them see situations in a new way so that they can move forward in more meaningful ways.

How Does Transformational Coaching Work?
Transformational coaching requires the coach to be present with the client from the first moment, so that they can be aware of the client’s energy as well as their internal dialogue. It is about feeling and listening to the point where you, as a coach, go deep below the words your clients are saying.
In order for the coaching conversation to flow, it needs to be built on trust between the client and the coach, otherwise the coaching experience won’t create sustainable transformation.
A transformational coach is always leading the client on their coaching journey of reflection, and why they are choosing existing patterns instead of creating different ones that will bring them new possibilities.
Master mentor coaches need to explore their clients’ current reality by exploring what is holding them back, what is the reason they retain their bad habits that stop them from progression and self-actualization.
In order for the process of transformation to occur, the coach needs to possess the skills to uncover and shift limiting beliefs. The coach does that by challenging the negative self-talk, bringing new awareness and reframing the beliefs.
The life coach also has to empower the client to take responsibility of their own transformation and growth. The client can’t leave the session feeling they are not capable to change their current reality. They need to leave the coaching session feeling they can trust their inner wisdom that guides them to their desired emotional state.

What is the Goal of Transformational Coaching?
The goal of transformational coaching is to empower the client in all aspects of their life, including mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and physically. The role of the transformational coach is helping clients to live their life authentically, bring them awareness and empower them to be who they really want to be.
Even though the transformation of one self could seem like it is related to just one area of the client’s life, the opposite is true. At House of Holistic Performance, our transformational coaching programme focuses on wholeness and our clients learning new skills to create deep transformation which in return creates more sustainable transformation.
Types of Transformation a Coach Can Help Create
A coach can create transformation in your mindset, physical health, relationship and career.
Mindset
A life coach can help to open up your mind and transform the way you see the world. Successful transformational coaches are here to bring you self awareness and make you identify challenging limiting beliefs that are stopping you from living your full potential. They are here to teach you to reframe your negative thoughts into more positive ones and also to encourage you to adopt a more growth mindset approach, where challenges are seen as opportunities to grow.
An example of mindset transformation is from one of our clients, Ellie. Ellie was a doctor who had a court hearing and she was in a terrible position where she could lose everything. Despite all her achievements, she struggled with self-doubt on the process and her mindset was in a terrible place.
Ellie couldn’t believe in herself and the only words which repeatedly came from her mouth was “I ruin my life and the life of my family.” This belief brought more anxiety, blockages and a negative belief that nothing could be done.
Through the transformational coaching program at House of Holistic Performance, which involved training, nutrition and supplements, coaching and mindfulness, Ellie started to shift her mindset and started to reframe what once was not a possibility to win the case to a more winning mentality and in the end, she won the case.
Over time, Ellie shifted her mentality and saw more opportunities. Even though these new opportunities brought self-doubt, Ellie took the opportunity which in return brought more positive impact into her personal and professional life.
Physical Health
There is a saying your health is your wealth and this is not far from the truth, without your physical health you are going to struggle to carry on with your life. Transformative coaching can boost your physical health by shifting your mindset and create sustainable healthy habits, which can support you through emotional healing and burnout, and help you to create health strategies that will allow you to increase your motivation and energy.
Our coaching clients at House of Holistic Performance get all of that by implementing a combination of strategies we teach and their own inner guidance, which becomes natural over time. Our coaching journey starts by bringing our clients awareness of the language they use towards themselves, and the shift they have to do to bring more positive psychology into their life.
Nina was an HR officer for an important company. She was lost, her marriage was broken down which affected her physical health from inside out. Her self-worth was affected as a result of her inner negative self talking which in return make her gain weight, have skin problems, and experience poor sleep, stress and burn out.
Nina started the transformational coaching program with the intention of changing her life for good. This leap of faith already started the process of transformation.
Nina started to implement all the strategies that she learnt during sessions. She changed the self-limiting beliefs about the world around her. She changed her eating habits, she changed the way she was talking to herself, she trained 3 times a week, she walked nearly 1 hour a day and she started meditation. But the important thing was that she believed that if she was going to willing to do the work, her physical health would transform.
As a result of doing the program, she started to burn fat, her eczema started to disappear, her sleep improved, her mood improved and her emotional well-being also improved. Even the people around her started to notice her changes.
Additionally, Nina was inspired by illuminating real life stories shared during her sessions, which connected her personal journey to practical guidance provided by the coaches.
Relationship
Transformational coaching can help to transform relationships. This could come by transforming the internal dialogue that sometimes can pass through their consciousness. Their past is dictating what type of relationship they have at the current moment. The role of the transformational coach is to bring them awareness, creating new scripts in the way they communicate with the person or people they having problem with.
The coach is also spending time helping clients to cultivate self love and and self compassion. Usually this is a big point to bring awareness in the coaching session because clients, more often than not, are very harsh on themselves. They are using very strong vocabulary towards themselves, sometimes it feels like a self-punishment infliction and it involves very strong emotions such as guilt, shame and fear.
The role of the transformational coach here is to bring awareness of what fulfilling relationships look and feel like. It is the role of the coach to help the client to avoid blaming others and take responsibility to change the things they can change.
One of our clients, Marina, was having relationship issues due to an accumulation of anger towards her parents and towards herself, which then developed into anger towards her husband. She started marriage counselling sessions and after weeks and weeks of seeing no changes, she decided to reach out for help.
She started the coaching programme where she discovered patterns that didn’t serve her. She changed the old scripts in her head allowing her to move away from her past and create a new personality where there wasn’t space for blaming others for her circumstances.
Marina started to believe more in herself and created boundaries when before she would hold the emotions and didn’t say anything to anyone.
Today, Marina’s relationship has improved to the point that her changes also indirectly created changes in her husband, even though she no longer tells him to change.
Career
Clients often come with stories of why they can’t change career, location of work, apply for a new job, or a new role in their company, without feeling how these changes could benefit them or their families. Sometimes, the voice in their head is telling them that despite their effort in changing, something is not going to work, or the “I don’t deserve it, this is not meant for me”.
At House of Holistic Performance, we help clients to change work, career path, gain new skills, believe in themselves, set up healthy boundaries in their work environment, and prepare themselves for things like big presentations. The key to doing that, as mentioned before, is by bringing self-awareness to clients of their negative self-talk.
One of our clients, Lily, wanted to move on the career ladder at a very important organisation worldwide and move countries.
Lily needed a shift in her life and that opportunity came, however, self-limiting beliefs started to pop in her mind. The words “I am not good enough” started to come up, the voice of perfectionism and low self confidence was getting stronger and more frequent, and stopped her from applying for that desired job.
Then, after she started the transformational coaching sessions, everything turned around. She started to unravel her insights and had more sudden moments of discovery that brought her more confidence in her self. She was more aware of creating change in her mindset and you could see that the process of transformation that once wasn’t possible started to flow through her.
Lily was a an example of transformative change, at that time she was lost and she believed every word in her head. The coaching approach taught her to reframe any limiting beliefs about herself, this exercise helped her to bring new and empowering vocabulary to create a new script which would help her to get the job that she desired.
Ultimately, Lily got the job and she moved countries. The coaching approach helped her to realise that no matter what the dialogue in her head was, she was going to get it because she was deserving of that change. She didn’t allow the words of perfectionism to overtake her.

What Does a Transformational Coach Do?
A transformational coach will have many different tools that will help the clients achieve their desired state of growth.
Transformational Coaching Techniques
A transformational coach at House of Holistic Performance will use techniques such as:
- Mindset shifting, which consists of identifying limiting beliefs and replacing them with empowering ones, focusing on shifting clients from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset.
- Emotional intelligence which teaches the client how to be more self aware and how emotions influence their behaviour and decisions.
- Somatic work, mindfulness and meditation, which involves body scan and other type of meditations that will help our clients to be more present, within their bodies and not in their minds.
- Powerful questioning, which involves asking open-ended questions instead of yes and no questions. This can help a client shift their awareness quickly and unlock a new perspective to see a situation or an opportunity.
- Exercise, which involves weight training. We believe that exercise can unlock your body’s potential and change the way you feel about yourself. Exercise also helps to reduce stress which in return can bring clarity for clients.

The Transformational Coaching Process
A transformational coach will start with a discovery session where the coach will identify the client’s needs, challenges and goals. Then, from there, they will set transformational goals that align with the client’s values.
After this, a transformational coach will move into exploration of limiting beliefs and emotional patterns, expanding self-awareness and challenging assumptions by asking thought-provoking questions.
The next phase will be into integration and embodiment through mindfulness and meditation practices, which encourage our clients to move into a more quantum model of reality, which embodies the future before is happening to bring a shift of new perspective to them.
Finally, the coach will help to set up the client’s accountability plan to follow to work independently for their own growth, such as creating habits that will move the client forward in their pursuit of living their authentic life.

What Are the Benefits of Transformational Coaching?
Transformation coaches are here to lead clients to a thriving life, where they can achieve whatever they desire from a heart-based perspective, rather than an ego-driven one. The benefits transformation coaching can bring to clients are:
Personal Growth and Self-Actualization
A transformational coach will help clients to grow into a state of self-actualization, where they will guide them to unlock and embody their full potential in every aspect of their life. By doing that, they will experience a new sense of direction, motivation and fulfilment.
Improved Relationships
A transformational coach can bring a great deal of self awareness into clients life so that they observe how they interact in their relationships and how they feel about it. It can also help them improve their communication and conflict resolution skills and how to set up healthy boundaries so that emotions such as anger, resentment and sadness don’t take over their life.
A study of 210 football players from Turkish leagues showed that transformational leadership helped to improve the relationship between the coach and the athlete, which then led to more team resilience. This shows how important it is to have a coach who is grounded, resilient, and possesses different coaching skills in order to change your mindset.
Career Development and Fulfilment
Transformational coaches enhance career development and fulfilment by aligning an individual’s professional goals with their core values, passions, and strengths. It empowers clients to gain clarity on their career vision, overcome limiting beliefs, and build confidence to pursue new opportunities or navigate transitions.
By fostering self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and resilience, coaching helps individuals improve leadership skills, enhance workplace relationships, and increase performance. Ultimately, it facilitates a shift from merely achieving external success to experiencing deep, intrinsic fulfilment and purpose in their career.
